the nickel plated bar movement jewelled to the third, the bimetallic balance with shaped weights, blued steel spherical hairspring, pivoted detent escapement, gold alloy wheels, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, Arabic five minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, gold arrow-head hands, in plain hunter case with hinged cuvette, dial and cuvette signed, case numbered - 53mm. diam.

Lot Essay

The use of spherical springs was invented by Frederic Houriet of Locle, 1743-1830, but because of the difficulty of manufacture and no real improvement in isochronism these springs were only made for a limited period.
