These ornaments are reminiscent of the models engraved by Hans de Bull, engraver and silversmith, who worked between 1592 and 1604, Hans Vredeman de Vries and Crispijn de Passe.
Taking into account the delay between Dutch drawings and their dissemination to Spain and the Spanish countries of Southern America, this lectern probably dates from 1620,

Similar decoration can be seen on various pieces in the Art of the European Goldsmiths, Carl Hernmarck, fig. 641 and 986.
A later lectern was on display at Europalia 1992 in Brussels (catalogue, nr II 65).
