Geneva, circa 1790/1800, bearing prestige marks and the Viennese duty mark for gold 1806/1807

Oval gold box with engine-turned cover, base and four side panels, the cover inset with an oval enamel plaque representing a young man standing at an autel d'amour with two putti, painted en grisaille on a sky-blue ground, all borders chased with scrolls and foliage in four-coloured gold, the pilasters similarly decorated with vases of flowers on a matted ground -- 8.1 cm wide, minimal chip to border of enamel
