A NYMPHENBURG GOLD-MOUNTED OVAL PORTRAIT SNUFF-BOX the cover moulded by Domenicus Auliczek with a biscuit portrait of Elector Max Joseph III of Bavaria (1727-1777) in profile to the right on a puce ground within moulded and gilt rococo scrolls and coloured flowers, the base moulded with gilt rococo foliage scrolls suspending swags of flowers, the underside with a flower-spray and the interior of the cover with the Homage to Abundance, a scantily draped nymph with three attendants with baskets of flowers beside a rococo fountain and a vase of flowers, the contemporary gold mount chased with scrolls, flowers and a shell thumbpiece (very slight wear to rim of underside and slight scratch to cover), impressed shield mark to interior, circa 1765
