De La Rue 5c. cancelled by c.d.s., the penultimate day of validity of Sardinian stamps; and 1868 (20 May) E.L. written in Rome but posted from Florence (22.5) to Perugia (23.5 arrival c.d.s. in red) bearing Sardinia 1855-63 5c. and Italy 1863 15c. blue (trace of previous "P.D." cancellation in red), both uncancelled at Florence and showing "Francobolli fuori d'uso" manuscript endorsement adjacent and handstruck "3" decimes adjacent - taxed as unfranked since stamps were invalid.
