cover 1863 (30 Dec.) E. (small faults) from Siena to Florence (30.12) bearing Sardinia 1858 10c. bistre and Italy 1863 (1 Dec.) De La Rue 5c. cancelled by c.d.s., the penultimate day of validity of Sardinian stamps; and 1868 (20 May) E.L. written in Rome but posted from Florence (22.5) to Perugia (23.5 arrival c.d.s. in red) bearing Sardinia 1855-63 5c. and Italy 1863 15c. blue (trace of previous "P.D." cancellation in red), both uncancelled at Florence and showing "Francobolli fuori d'uso" manuscript endorsement adjacent and handstruck "3" decimes adjacent - taxed as unfranked since stamps were invalid.
