C.M. HAHN. A VERY RARE SILVER-CASED FULL CALENDAR WATCH WITH 24 HOUR DIAL
signed Hofmenchanicus Hahn sen. in Stuttgart, circa 1790

with gilt full-plate movement, going arbor, half-seconds beating cylinder escapement, with plain five-arm brass balance, large and foliate engraved pierced off-set cock, white enamel dial with double XII chapter ring, outer Arabic minutes and inner rings for weekday, date, lunar calendar, quarter day (hand lacking) and seconds, blued steel hands, plain case, movement signed - 60 mm diam.

Lot Essay

This watch can be attributed with some certainty to Christoph Matthaus, the elder son of Philipp Matthaus Hahn. C. M. Hahn was made Court mechanician in Stuttgart in 1790. Amongst his recorded work is a fine silver calendar watch.
