Lot Essay

Another view in Verona in similar technique on brown paper is that of the Palazzo Minischalchi in the Ruskin School, Bembridge; this was exhibited in 1991 as having been done in 1865 (London, Maas Gallery, John Ruskin and his Circle, June 1991, no.5, repr.). Also in the same technique is another view of the Ponte della Pietra in the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester (repr. Whitworth Institute Annual Report, 1977), and a study of a Roman Arch near Verona, sold at Christie's, New York, on 1 March 1984, lot 506, repr.
