A GOLD AND ENAMEL PRESENTATION BROOCH

Shaped as a miniature silver "Foros" lifesaver tied with gold rope to a pair of crossed enamelled flags, in original wood fitted case stamped K. Fabergé with the Imperial Warrant, Moscow, St. Petersburg.

Lot Essay

The "Foros", Tsar Nicholas II's private yacht, was docked at Sevastopol in the Crimea. He would sail on the yacht while on holiday at the seaside palace Livadia. Brooches such as this must have been given as souvenirs to important guests visiting him.
