This exquisite black pearl, one of the largest to be discovered in the last thirty years, was found in the lagoons of the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia. The pearl fishermen must open approximately fifty-thousand oysters to find such an exquisite specimen. A pearl of such a size with an excellent form, extraordinary colour and remarkable clarity is seldom found.
