A FINE RESTORATION PIETRA DURA AND GOLD SNUFF-BOX

Rectangular gold box with canted corners, the cover, sides and base applied with colourful pietra dura panels depicting, on the lid, a gentleman with his horse standing in a landscape and holding a whip, on the front wall a hunting dog sniffing near a bush, on the three other sides puppies in landscapes, and, on the base, a cat playing with a mouse, in an interior; the four canted side walls inlaid with striated agate panels; the gold cagework engraved with trailing flowers and scrolls on engine-turned reeding -- 88 mm wide.
