A SILVER PRESENTATION STAND SHAPED AS A SABRETACHE OF THE GRODNO HUSSAR REGIMENT OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD
apparently unmarked, circa 1895

Shaped as a sabretache, with a large cypher of Alexander II surmounted by an Imperial crown within a rim reproducing embroideries applied on raspberry textile with the Russian inscription at the top Vladimir Aleksandrovich Folbort Warsaw 28/1/1895, the reverse with numerous engraved signatures such as V. Gurko, Prince Schakovskoy, Prince Argutinski Dolgorukov I and II, Prince Grabovski, the plain silver strut engraved with a music program and a menu -- 11.7 cm high

Such stands shaped as sabretaches were often presented to officers of the Grodno Hussard regiment of the Imperial Guard, see P. de Gimelin and G. Gorokhoff "La Garde Imperiale Russe" (Paris, 199-), p.----, illust.. also a similar stand given to General Charpentier, Commander of the regiment in 1914 is exhibited at the Army Museum in Helsinki.
