Lot Essay

Von Gloeden began photographing nudes in the early 1890s at which time he was working with his cousin Plüschow. The two photographers often shared models and props, thus making it difficult to attribute their work. One of these images seems to have von Gloeden's blue numbering yet it carries Plüschow's red stamp.
