Lot Essay

The table legs' bold Grecian-reeding featured in patterns for dining-room furniture published in George Smith's Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1826. A table, which appears to be from the same workshops, offered in these rooms on the 17 November 1994, lot 183, bore the stamp of the furniture broker Thomas Willson (d. 1854), recorded at 68 Great Queen Street in the 1820s
