A GERMAN BIEDERMEIER MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE A ABATTANT, first half 19th Century

The pedimented and stepped superstructure with panelled door enclosing one shelf, above a stepped cornice and one long drawer above a fall-front with oval panel, the reverse with green leather-lined writing-surface, enclosing a fitted interior with central arched recess, with curved chequer-panelled floor flanked by panelled Karelian-birch angles and surmounted by a mirrored drawer with mother-of-pearl balcony flanked by a short drawer, above a further arched recess and a sprung inverted breakfront drawer at either side, above three further sprung drawers, the lower section with two graduated long drawers on a plinth with further drawer and stepped bracket feet, minor restorations to veneer
