It's stated here that this is the portrait of Salomon de Vries, a delivery man from the Nieuwe Molstraat (The Hague) and that he was the model for the painting "Son of the old people" (1881) by Joseph Israels. Israels apparently gave just a name to him: "Jacob Stedel", as was announced by Israels to the person S., who made the above statement.
