A COLLECTION OF LITHOGRAPHS BY AART VAN DOBBENBURGH (1899-1988) THE PROPERTY OF THE DAUGHTER OF THE ARTIST Aart van Dobbenburgh had his artistic training at the Kunstnijverheids- school Quellinus, The Hague. He started his career as an assistant of the architect and initiator of the art magazine Wendingen, H.Th. Wijdeveld. The art of print-making and especially the technique of the lithograph became his major interest. In 1936 his book Grafische Kunst was published and soon he became a teacher at the Royal Academy in The Hague. In his early work some modernistic influences and experiments appear. In the late 30's and onwards, his work becomes often strongly realistic, always technicaly highly skilled and in many cases showing his social engagement.
