A LARGE JACOB PETIT PARIS PORCELAIN INKWELL AND FIGURAL COVER, gilt and painted in colours, the large cover naturalistically modelled in relief with a seated young gentleman holding the hand of his lady companion, over a table laid with bread and apples, both wearing 18th Century period dress, their backs adorned with a generous string of applied florettes hiding a peering watchdog, on rectangular plinth, the encrier decorated with floral bouquets and gilt trailing vine, the front pierced with scrolls in the rococo revival style, the back blue-ground, with removable inkwell and sander, two holes for pens and a concave penholder (the encrier with one chip, some further minor damages), both cover and inkstand marked J.P to the reverse, first half 19th Century
