Each surmounted by a flame finial, above the tapering fluted stem hung with ribbon and laurel sprays, the five foliate scrolling branches each with a fluted foliate-cast nozzle and drip-pan and joined by foliate festoons, the lower part cast with foliage, berries and acorns and terminating with two tassles, the back of each variously stamped MB

Lot Essay

The festive love-trophy wall-lights, designed in the Louis XVI 'arabesque' manner of the 1780s with two tiers of flower-festooned and acanthus-scrolled candle-branches ribbon-tied to a laurel-twined Cupid's torch.
