Lot Essay

Conceived as a festive sporting-trophy, the ribbon-tied candle-branches comprise triple hunting-horns united with another pair of horns, and a hind's hoof amongst oak-branches. See D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Petit Trianon, Paris, 1989, p. 98. The model relates to wall-lights delivered by the bronze founder Galle in 1809.
