The album was mentioned by Dr. A. von Wurzbach, Niederländisches Künstler-lexicon, Vienna/Leipzig, 1910, II, p. 727, who quotes C. Kramm, De levens en werken der hollandsche en vlaamsche Kunstschilders, Amsterdam, 1857-64

Lot Essay

Two drawings of the same building by Willem van Nieulandt are in the Fondation Custodia, Institut Néerlandais, Paris (C. van Hasselt, Dessins Flamands du Dix-Septième Siècle, Paris, 1972, no. 64, pl. 18).

The drawings were acquired with De Kruyff, Zeist in 1980-1. The binding of the album remains in the Van Leeuwen Collection
