A PAIR OF DRESDEN TAPERING OVIFORM VASES
Late 19th Century

Painted with hunters chasing a stag and a hare in landscape vignettes within gilt and black scroll, shell and strapwork cartouches, the reverses painted with the Arms as borne by Frederick Augustus I of Saxony, within similar cartouches on grounds of scattered flowers, the sides modelled in high relief with female mask handles, their heads garlanded with roses, above moulded lower bodies and on gilt tapering reeded legs and angular feet (necks cut down, chip to one nose), blue AR monograms
