Lot Essay

Although related to Adam designs, this pattern of back, stop-fluted legs and rails appear on two suites supplied by Hervé to Chatswrth in 1782 (see: I. Hall, 'A neo-classical episode at Chatsworth', Burlington Magazine, June 1980, p. 405)
