Lot Essay

The attribution is based on a comparison with the signed pendants, offered at Christie's London 4 July 1986, lot 32, with colour illustrations and also with the signed work offered at Lempertz Cologne, 11 November 1959, lot 13, with ill.

Next to nothing is known of this female (?) artist; Wurzbach, Niederländisches Kunstler-lexikon, 1963, I, p. 160, records her as being in Amsterdam in 1660
