signed, lower right 'GK(linked)napton pxt 1747' and with inscription 'Henry 7th Lord Arundell.'

Lot Essay

A full-length adaptation of this portrait was supplied for the new house of Wardour by Sir Joshua Reynolds to the 8th Lord Arundell for #50 (payment of 8 December 1768, A. Graves and W. V. Cronin, A History of the Works of Sir Joshua Reynolds, P.R.A., London, 1899, I, p. 31): this left Wardour before 1899 and was sold at Christie's, 15 April 1994, lot 21.
