Lot Essay

Eleanor Manly was a genre painter who specialised in pictures of children. She exhibited eleven works at the Royal Academy including A Regular Tease and Open the Door Please. She also exhibited seven works, including watercolours at the Royal Society of British Artists. Her sister, Alice Elfrida Manly, was also an artist. They lived in London.
