Jacques-Henri Fauconnier was apprenticed to Jean-Baptiste Odiot and later became "Orfèvre de LL. AA. RR. Monseigneur le Dauphin et Madame, Duchesse de Berry". The free school of "Haute Orfèvrerie" in the Hôtel of Madame Adélaide, the sister of King Louis-Philippe, was founded by him. He had many well known people as his clients including James Monroe, President of the United States and King Charles X of France. He is also known for his work with the famous French animal sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye.
