AN IVORY TUSK VASE ON AN ELABORATE LACQUER STAND
Carved in high and low relief and inlaid in Shibayama style with a samurai and a young lady by the roadside with Mt. Fuji in the distance, the reverse with another lady mounted sideways on a bull led by a boy crossing a bridge, pine branches above, a traveller, a woman and a boy carrying a basket and fungi on a carved dark wood base, signed on a tablet Kunichika, dated on a road sign post Meiji 7 (1874), signed Kamiyuki Takuko kore, the two-tiered hexagonal roironuri ground stand on shaped feet decorated in gold and iroe hiramakie with dragons and ho-o birds, ivony panels, drawers and railings decorated in Shibayama style, (some minor old damage), late 19th century
