Conceived circa 1914 and cast shortly afterwards in an edition of eight (there were a further two artist's proofs). The present sculpture is number II from the edition of eight.

This work is a study for the Alvear Monument in Buenos Aires, which depicts General Alvear on horseback surrrounded by the four attributes: Liberty, Eloquence, Strength and Victory.
