FIRST EDITION, and one of the earliest printed Savonarola tracts. It was published just two months after the death of Lorenzo de' Medici. Savonarola's popularity grew even more rapidly following the famous exchange between the two men at Lorenzo's deathbed; Lorenzo was willing to repent and renounce his wealth, but could not agree to Savonarola's last condition before absolution: to restore the liberties of Florence.
