2° (410 x 270mm). Engraved title by Jaspar Isac, 65 full-page engraved illustrations and 3 engraved plates of mythological subjects by L. Gaultier after J. Isac, A. Caron and T. de Leu. (Title laid down, first quire strengthened at inner margin, stained and browned, repairs to Q5 and Gg6.) Early 18th-century mottled sheep, covers with gilt central arms of Philippe Lefèbvre de Plainval and gilt cherub cornerpieces, spine in seven compartments with red morocco lettering-piece in one, the others with gilt floral and cherub's head tools (skilfully restored, slight cracks to head and foot of joints). Provenance: Philippe Lefèbvre de Plainval (director of the royal farms at Rouen, 1710; binding). Brunet IV, 620; Landwehr Romantic Emblem Books 586.
