JAMES COWAN - Born in Bonhill, Dunbartonshire in 1868, James Cowan's career was launched with local Junior Clubs, Renton and Vale of Leven. He took the big step to Senior Football with Aston Villa in 1887 and remained with them until 1902. Renouned for his remarkable turn of speed, Cowan was also recognised as an uncompromising tackler. He became the first Manager of Queens Park Rangers in 1906-07, remaining there until around 1913. He died in 1918. The following three lots were awarded to JAMES COWAN
