GEORGE LIVINGSTON - By any standards, and particularly by pre-W.W.I standards, George Turner Livingston enjoyed a long and active playing career. He was born in Dumbarton in 1876, joining his first Senior Club, Dumbarton, in 1895. Subsequently, he enjoyed spells with Heart of Midlothian, Sunderland, Celtic, Liverpool, Manchester City, Rangers and Manchester United, all of this prior to the outbreak of War and all the while, we are told, simultaneously running a Plumbing and Gas-fitting business! Following hostilities, Livingston held the offices of Manager at Dumbarton and Trainer with, firstly Rangers, and then Bradford City. As a powerful Inside-Forward with skillful ball-playing ability, Livingston was always rated highly in the goalmouth area, enhancing these abilities with good combination work and accurate ball-feeding.
