The classical nature and the confident handling of form evident in the present figure place it among terracottas of French sculptors working at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. The execution of the facial features, the drapery, and the feet, which have all been delineated with a few strong lines from the artist's stylus, are particularly reminiscent of the known work of Charles-Antoine Callamard, whose terracotta Minerva in the Louvre provides a number of interesting parallels (Karlsruhe, loc. cit.).
