A L L A N M c C L O R Y
Born in Armadale, West Lothian in November 1899, Allan McClory joined Motherwell F.C. from Shotts United in 1924. After being runners-up to Rangers on several occasions in the League, Motherwell finally broke the Glasgow side's hold on the Championship in 1932. McClory also appeared on the losing side in the Cup twice (1931 and 1933) before joining Brideville F.C. in Ireland. After only one season there he joined Albion Rovers. Later, he again joined Motherwell and was finally given a free transfer to Montrose in 1946, still playing at the age of 47. During his thirteen seasons with Motherwell he was a League 'ever present' on six occasions, four of which were in succession. He could not however transfer this consistency to the national side and only played for his country on three occasions. McClory died in July 1983.
