A HELLENISTIC SILVER-GILT STRAINER, the rim with a finely engraved and gilt ivy frieze within lathe-cut circles, the handles in the form of duck or swan heads with sinuous necks springing from flat trapezoidal plaques each edged with curlicues and engraved with large gilded vine leaf, the bowl punched with holes in elaborate pattern consisting of six-leaf star within hexagon in the centre, a curlicue between each leaf, an alternating wave meander framed by dot band, and a meander frieze below dots around the side, the bowl made separately and attached to rim, slight damage, 4th Century B.C.
