The folding semi-elliptical top crossbanded in rosewood and inlaid with a central quiver of arrows and hunting horn tied with foliage, framed with foliate scrolls, the panelled frieze with laurel-draped flowerheads, on turned tapering fluted legs headed by stiff-leaf
clasps, the back edge of the top stamped FROM W. WILLIAMSON AND SONS., GUILDFORD

Lot Essay

The firm of Williamson in Guildford are recorded from 1790 to 1840. Their stamp is recorded on such a variety of late Georgian and Regency furniture that it is now thought that they were at least partly dealers in earlier pieces as well as cabinet-makers (see: The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, Leeds, 1986, p. 983)
