The pre-1823 Chinoiserie decoration of the Saloon at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, used related dragons as supports for hanging-lights from above the cornice (see: F. Collard, Regency Furniture, Woodbridge, 1983, p. 199). Along with the lanterns that they supported, they were swept away in the transformation undertaken by Robert Jones in 1823 (ibid., pl. 24)
