A Rare Embroidered Silk Mandala
Tibeto-Chinese, 16th/17th Century
Very finely embroidered in shades of gold, green and blue depicting Amitayus at the center surrounded by eight Bodhisattvas and a gold vajra border on a dark blue ground set within concentric squares forming gateways and circles with outermost petal, vajra and flaming borders, the top depicting two Gelugpa lamas with Vajradhara at center on floating clouds, the lower rim with Palden Lhamo and Vaishravana centered by flaming jewels, framed
