A Victorian carved and stained oak armchair carved by Spencer Boyd, the top rail centred by the Penkill crest, supported by anthemions and scrolling acanthus, the rectangular padded back flanked on either side by a spirally turned column, the upholstered seat below a panel carved with an armorial crest initialled SB and dated 1857, supported by further pierced foliate scrolls, the moulded scrolling armrests with anthemion carved terminals on spirally turned block supports and bun feet joined by similar spirally turned stretchers and a pierced foliate carved front stretcher centred by a crown; and another ensuite, the arched foliate carved top rail centred by the Penkill crest surmounted by a cross, the rectangular padded back flanked by panels of entwined foliage, on spirally turned columns, each headed by a rectangular panel enclosing a stylised flowerhead above Penkill cross finials, the upholstered seats flanked by moulded scrolled armrests with anthemion hand rests on spirally turned block supports carved with further panels of flowerheads and similar stretchers and pierced foliate carved front stretchers centred by a crown, bearing the initials SB and dated 1857 (2)
