Lot Essay

Very few Winchester demonstration models were produced; the Buffalo Bill Historical Center estimate that about twenty sectionalized exhibition Model 1873s were built during the course of this model's production. As with No. 4216, these rifles seldom have serial numbers, but they usually have assembly numbers (as here). This example has been authenticated by the world's leading expert on Colt and Winchester production, R.L. Wilson and comes complete with a letter of identification from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center
