Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was built sometime between 1934 and 1937. Interestingly, the gun incorporates a self-opening mechanism which resembles the Purdey/Beesley action in having kickers or compressors on the bar of the action. It is more normal for Churchill guns to be fitted with a Smith system action which is to be identified by extensions to the cocking-limbs on the knuckle of the action
