A SPANISH GOLD-MOUNTED DRESS-SWORD with bright tapering blade double-edged and of flattened hexagonal section for half its length towards the point, the remainder etched with conventional foliage on both sides and 'Fa. De Toledo.' on one side and 'Año De Toledo' on the other, the cast and chased cruciform hilt including short fluted quillons with circular foliated tips and springing from a central block bearing the Spanish royal arms on each face, trilobated pommel with a trophy on each face formed of a fasces, a sword crossed with a club and laurel branches, and grip in imitation of wire-binding with, on one face, a shield with a royal crown over a carouche framing a tablet engraved 'Charte De 1830', in original black leather scabbard (minor damage) with gold locket and chape each engraved with conventional foliage, the former with fleur-de-lys-shaped frog button, French import marks, dated 1845
