A PAIR OF FRENCH SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS with blued barrels damascened with gold strapwork and a trophy of arms at the breech and with scrollwork around the silver fore-sights (the decoration more worn on one pistol than on the other), and with a silver ring around each muzzle, signed flat border engraved locks decorated with a martial trophy on the tail and with the figure of Jupiter (one lock worn, one cock replaced), carved figured walnut full stocks (both fore-ends partly replaced) inlaid with silver wire on the butts and with full cast and chased silver mounts including pierced side-plates incorporating an oval portrait medallion, engraved pierced escutcheons supported by lions and with a count's coronet above, and spurred pommels decorated with military trophies in high relief, the caps in the form of a portrait bust (ramrods replaced), by Dubois, the locks signed B. Gilier on the inside, circa 1720-30
