Established in 1857 Buena Vista is California's oldest premium wine producer. Writes James Laube in California Wine " it wasn't until the late 1970's, when the winery was acquired by Racke Int. of Germany that Buena Vista began to produce some really impressive wines. From 1978 to 1986, the winery made some very successful Cabernets under its Special Selection and Private Reserve designations, and also produced some fine chardonnays and merlots."
