ParcelWine RARE VINTAGE SHERRY FROM BODEGAS WILLIAMS & HUMBERT The Historic Single Vintage Collection Founded in 1877 Williams & Humbert have firmly established themselves as one of the very finest producers of sherry in the world today. Sherry as we normally see it is aged in a solera system, a sort of wine pyramid where by the older wines at the bottom of the pyramid are refreshed with the younger wines at the top of the pyramid. This trickle down effect allows the producer to maintain a consistant level of quality and taste year in year out for that particular style. However every year since 1920 Williams & Humbert have been putting aside one butt of sherry sourced from their most prized vineyard the Alamo in Balbaina. These casks have laid undisturbed, slowly maturing and ageing in the vaults of the bodega ever since and as evaporation has taken place they have been carefully racked off into smaller barrels. The results of such a remarkable endeavor are some of the richest, most complex and compelling fortified wines ever produced. With a very small amount of fining they were then bottled by hand and sealed with wax especially for Zachys Christie's. We are proud and honored to offer these remarkable drinking experiences and I urge any serious wine lover or connoisseur, especially those of fortified wines, not to delay in attending, both the pre-asle tasting and the auction. At the pre-sale tasting there will be one bottle from each vintage available, so you may taste and judge these very rare wines for yourself. A further treat will be Mr Alfonso Roldan Pinero, International Director of Bodegas Williams & Humbert who will be on hand to offer buyers his vast knowledge and experience in the world of fine Vintage Sherry.
