Malaysia, 19th century

Manuscript on buff paper, 340ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 13ll. of strong black naskh, punctuation in red, red dots in circles between verses, black ruled margins, the divisions of text marked marginally in red, sura headings in red in ruled panels, (some water-staining to edges, negligible spotting and smudging, occasional small areas of worming and repairs, occasional damages to edges), opening bifolio illuminated in gold, red, brown and green with black outlines with panel of gold calligraphy above and below, (some patches of wear, repaired, damage to edges), inscription roundel in Arabic script but Malay language on opening folio dated AH 1291/1874-5 AD, final folio with sura i, Fatiha repeated and colophon signed by Qutub Kamal al-Din, dated in Malay fully written out, Muharram, ..... (damage to lower edge), contemporary dark brown morocco binding with stamped medallion, spandrels and borders (some wear and damage, repaired)
