1803 two letters written in Italian, one of which is lengthy (8pp.) from Cairo and "Damiatta", both from the same correspondent ( "D.V.E.", apparently a spy) to Lord Blantyre (a senior diplomat who went on frequent missions to the Eastern Mediterranean) and contained within a rather battered wrapper, probably by diplomatic channels, in May 1804 and locally posted on arrival in London; fascinating contents regarding the volatile political situation in Egypt at the time
