1811 (6 Feb.) entire letter from Cartaxo to England, endorsed at left "Saml. Shelmore 95th Regt." and countersigned, rated "P1d" and showing straight-line "FALMOUTH" h.s. struck in red; contents are an answer to an enquiry regarding a soldier "..he was wounded in an engagement at a place called Bossaco on the 27th of Sept. The ball took him verry near his kidneys he was immediately sent of for Lisbon where he languished a few days and died in Genrall Hospital" and "The Enemy had plundered him before we could get at him to carry him away and I can not make out any thing except the prize money for the surrender of Copenhagen"
