Curved lattice back, circular seat, cruciform stretchers with block intersection, the back legs with faceting at the rear, original upholstered high leather seat.

Lot Essay

Godwin's design for the 'Jacobean' chair appeared in William Watt's catalogue of 1877, and thereafter was much copied by various manufacturers. The present chair is very close to the proportions of Godwin's original design.
