Lot Essay

Purchased by the present owner from Munari in 1985.
Rossi and Arcandi were responsible for producing a silver version of Malevich's 1920s design for a ceramic teapot which was produced in a limited edition of 50 in 1989. The present teapot shows several minor differences in construction to that produced in the limited edition, most notably in the manner in which the wood handle is fixed to the body, and it has been confirmed by Munari that the present teapot is a prototype for their 1989 edition.
